New to this list, March 2017. Owned by Andrew Ellis in Germany.
Andrew reports:
I purchased 458 back in 2005, here in Germany, where I have been living for the last 30 years or so, and started restoration completing most of the rolling chassis, but then had to put everything on hold due to moving house and starting another type of work. Now I am reactivating the restoration project and had taken another look at my old copy of Russell (Hearn's) article on 455 in the LRO.
SXF 458 was imported into Germany some time before 28th June 1976, when it was registered in Stuttgart (Reg.No. S-CW-8934). I am not sure if the engine is original because 2286cm is printed in the Fahrzeugbrief, but I will have to check the Engine No to find out for sure.
It would be interesting to know where it had done its service and when it was de-mobbed? Attached you will find the plate of evidence; a photo as it was and as it is now.
'The Green Machine' book gives the following: Hard Top. Stored at Chilton [Airfield]. Sold via Stradishall 28/10/70.
Note that (rather unusually) SXF 455, 456 and 458 have consecutive chassis numbers. (457 is currently unknown.)
