Stood for 5 years next to a pub near Richmond, Yorks. Basket case! Sold (Spring 96) by Chris Whyatt to relative in Norwich. For sale again 03/97. Current status unknown.
[There is doubt about the veracity of this vehicle — documentation is alleged to show that it was built 1954, and registered to the Foreign Office. It was supposedly used by the British Consul in Cairo from then until re-imported in 1961. 86" (or 80"), with possible 1600cc engine. Now a hybrid, with Ser3 rear axle. Is this a composite vehicle that ended up with SXF666 registration?]
Later information (06/06) came from Paul Sherwood: "I bought SXF666 sometime around 1975, from Toll Bar Garage on the Darlington to Northallerton road (Yorkshire). It had certainly been ex-ICI — it was still painted in their orange colours with ICI logo on the doors. The body was chemically rotten so I fitted a replacement body from a friend in Guisborough — no idea where he got it from. I fitted the fully floating rear axle, but it wasn't a Series 3 one. I fitted a hard top, but I think I took it off before it was sold... can't remember. Two series ones including SXF666 went off in part-exchange to a supplier in Coxhoe (Co.Durham) in the late eighties, when I purchased a Series 3 ex-Northern Ireland Police one from him. I used to see SXF666 driving around for a short while after I got rid of it. It was mentioned in an article I had in a club mag a while ago, with a photo — it was then painted white. I still have the original log book."
