Current and Previous Owners unknown. For Sale.
Although I saw this vehicle at Shugborough in 1998, it seemed to drop off the radar for 21 years until it reappeared on Ebay (March 2020) for sale on behalf of the owner by Churchill 4x4 Ltd of Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.
The description said:
1958 Land Rover Series 1 V8 Soft Top. 3.5 V8 conversion, SXF model. Originally supplied to the Ministry of Supply this is known as an SXF Land Rover due to the batch all having SXF registrations. Enthusiast owner for over 30 years and converted to 3.5 V8 in the 1990's with the engine being fully reconditioned at the time. Huge folder of history for maintenance and Heritage Certificate. Original VIN plate and chassis number visible. Sold bulkhead and chassis, sounds awesome and is very fast for a Series 1 Land Rover!
The asking price was £17,500.00.
A very interesting example of an apparently unmolested SXF, but with the sort of tweaks (including the engine!) which come after 6 decades of care and improvement. Not slavishly restored to 'as new' condition (although they might have washed the dust off the bonnet before taking the pics!)
I am 'watching' this item, and will see if it sells, and for how much.
