Current owner: Peter West, Berkshire
When first added to the Database, this vehicle was recorded as a Hard Top, owned by Terence Firth. In February 2014 it was for sale at Jake Wright Ltd at Burley In Wharfedale in the Yorkshire West Riding.
I understand that owners after Terence Firth included Mathew Kemp-Potter from Pulborough, and Colin Mccaig from Rawdon near Leeds, who owned it from Oct 2011.
In LRSOC 'Legend' 193 Peter West contributed an article featuring his visit to the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble on January 8th 2017, to which he took 727 (now restored to AFS livery).
He described how he used to tow a fully-equipped Brockhouse pump trailer with the Land-Rover, but then discovered that in AFS service it would have been an Austin Gypsy that towed the trailer — the Land- Rover would have been the Command Car. So he acquired the Gypsy in his photo (above, scanned from 'Legend') so that the towing would be authentic! Note the amber lights on the bonnets of the Gypsy and LR, and above the windscreen of the Bedford RL 'Green Goddess'.
Unfortunately, because the day was initially wet and foggy, they decided to leave the Brockhouse at home, but will try to take it to future Bicester Heritage events. Just what part the 1934 Aston Martin Ulster might have played in AFS duties is not explained... but it looks good!
This is an earlier pic of 727, before Peter West's ownership
This picture appeared in 'Legend' Issue 227, and shows 727 transporting 'Her Majesty' at a local Platinum Jubilee celebration:
