Just for your info, I have the bulkhead off SXF739 attached to my '57 88" Reg No. 894MRF. I don't know when this was acquired and fitted, but MRF has been in my family for the past 12 years or so. I guess it was removed from 739 in the very early 1990's. I bought it off a bloke who lived near Tarporley Cheshire.
Chester Fire Brigade also had SXF??? I drove it many times. It was their Road Accident Vehicle and was transferred to Cheshire FB in 1974. A photo must surely exist somewhere! It was eventually sold at auction along with the only other Series One remaining in Cheshire FB (Ex Warrington FB. Reg No. 6 BMA – a 107 or 109 truck cab) about 1976.
I've managed to find a picture of SXF739 (on the right) when she was in service at Chester.
It's from a collection of pictures of fire service vehicles in the North West by Barrie Green, and is used with his permission. But neither he nor Norman Price (who's done considerable research on such vehicles) can confirm the identity of the other SXF that Martin referred to.
