SXF 757

Peter Galilee reports (2003)
"Looking through a friend's slides of a Welsh Hill Rally (this is from probably 20+ years ago at least) I noticed the following — SXF 757 or 753 (not quite clear — mud and bumper is in the way), body colour beige, fawn, general appearance as a standard vehicle, white hard top. Being hurled competitively over a hillock."

In 2005, owner listed as Nigel Beck, Long Eaton, Derbyshire.

SXF757 Wings

More information came to light in November 2012, when an eBay ad for another vehicle from Spilsby, Lincolnshire, showed a set of front wings (painted green over red) visible in the background, showing the registration SXF757. The LRSOC member who reported this also said that the number is currently recorded on an LDV Convoy van. Another member contacted the originator of the eBay ad, who confirmed that he bought the remnants of SXF757 from a friend about 8-10 years ago but the chap retained the number for his own use. We can assume the original vehicle is now non-existant, or (hopefully) in pieces awaiting restoration.

Update November 2022

I had an email from Steve Boot, who said:
I owned the Land Rover SXF 757 briefly (about 18 months) from March 1984. When I bought it, it was military green and shortly after hand painted in Parsons coach paint by my brother Terry. It was then red body, cream roof and wheels and black bumpers.
