SXF783

There were no known records for this vehicle, other than a refence in 'The Green Machine' — as a result, I'd not included it in the Database as I prefer a known sighting or other confirmation.

However, these pictures were posted to the Series One Club Forum:

They were supplied by Graham Scott, from the Scottish Borders, who said that the pictures were found along with others at his place of work. The shots show a team carrying out river flow measurements in the Dumfries area, and is similar to the work that makes up a major part of his job.

The vehicle is clearly in full 'Reconnaissance' guise, and the puzzle is why would a Civil Defence vehicle be involved in work more usually associated with a local water board? The date sugested is 1960, when the vehicle would still have been in Home Office service. Indeed, The Green Machine' gives the details At SHHD/Locharbriggs 7/69. SHHD stood for 'Scottish Home & Health Department', which maintained the Civil Defence stock kept in Scotland.
