I bought this beauty in June 1973 and I am the 3rd owner from new. First was Secretary of State, Home Office, London from 15th February 1957 to the 1st change (Perth & Kinross Fire Brigade) on the 28 August 1964. It was only stamped for 3 year's licenses to August 1966 until I bought it and registered it on the 19 June 1973. I still have the original buff log book in my possession.
I used it lovingly and toured Europe to Greece, Italy, France and Spain over a few years without any problems at all. It was garaged for a while as I wanted to preserve it and had other vehicles I could use. In 1987 I had it overhauled and shipped it to Tenerife for use on my holidays. I kept it in a nice dry garage and eventually brought it back to the UK in 2009. After some work on the brakes and engine service it passed its MOT no problem.
To date it has done less than 55K miles on the original 1997cc petrol engine and is presently in a good dry lock up. It has a hard top on it but I will be fixing the soft top this summer. I have added a Fairy Overdrive and Free Wheeling hubs as well as 750 tyres. This land Rover is still in remarkable condition having spent most of its life dry stored.

I was in the Auxiliary Fire Service in Perth in the early sixties (64-65, or thereabouts). SXF80 was an AFS Land Rover when I joined. At some point I remember it being replaced with a newer model. Has to be said it's looking a lot better than I ever remember it looking when it had the AFS badge on the door, but then again its a long time ago.
