Advertised May 03 in local paper for Cambridge area:
"1957 88 hard top, 2ltr petrol, ex Civil Defence Portsmouth, 12 months MOT, new tyres, stainless exhaust, completely refurbished mid 90's, good all round condition, all original except for rear light clusters. Runs well with original engine, green with cream hard top. London area, asking £2500 o.n.o."

"SXF 853 did a sterling job shifting my bits and bobs from Cambridge all the way down the M11/M25 to its new home in London. Whilst other lesser — but infinitely newer — vehicles had to take a breather on the hard shoulder (hottest day of 2003 so far) 853 plugged on and on at a mighty pace of 50mph!.
The 2½ hour trip was pretty back breaking, and the lorry that decided to exit rather too close to the bonnet certainly reconfirmed my opinion of Series 1 brakes — or lack of them! Thankfully I seem to have been blessed with unusually powerful leg muscles (probably a throw back to my rugby days) with which I was able to carry out a deft emergency stop!
Unfortunately such unplanned and violent action has resulted in the need for a readjustment and bleed of the old brake system — still... it stopped!"
In LRSOC 'Legend' 130 (05/06) was advertised for sale again as Peter is working in Malaysia.
"1957 Series One 88, original 2ltr petrol engine. Extensive history, including original brown and green registration books. Has undergone extensive refurbishment over the years and has recently had a new distributor, exhaust manifold, stainless steel exhaust, carb o/haul etc. Runs well with no known major faults. Usual oil leaks from transmission and hubs have been filled with self-levelling grease as per norm. The bodywork is sound and is commensurate with age. Has original hard top and brand new tilt/hood sticks. Sadly I now work overseas and as such she needs to go to a sympathetic new owner for continued maintenance and enjoyment. MoT/Road Tax until August 2006."
