Current Owner: Graeme Aldous, East Cleveland
Previous Owner(s): Peter Ward (Esk Valley), Tony Sayers (Esk Valley), Anthea Aldous (East Cleveland)

Known as 'Fido' — well, 'Rover' would be a silly name!

In Billing 93 photo. At Shugborough 98 and Epen 98. Refurbished, with galvanised chassis and engine valve work, in 2008.

Fido, soon after refurbishment

Anthea Aldous originally bought 'Fido' to help her get to the top of the North York Moors dales in early morning snowy weather in her (then) job as a Milk Recorder. The vehicle then put in decades of sterling work on Anthea & Graeme's smallholding on the edge of the Moors. Sadly Anthea succumbed to leukaemia in March 2021, but as it was her wish to be buried in her top hay field, Graeme was able to use SXF870 to carry her coffin up the fields.

SXF870

For a while it was thought that this Reconnaissance vehicle was the highest-numbered SXF Land-Rover, although there was indication that there might have been 871. Then photographic evidence was uncovered that proved that there was once a spare seat for 871 kept in storage, although at that time no trace of the vehicle itself had been found. However, subsequently it appeared — see 871's page for more details.
